Nikki Haley, who served two years in Donald Trump’s Cabinet, has officially launched her ’24 Republican presidential bid. Here’s a tidbit about Trump, plucked from her opening statement:
“You should know this about me. I don’t put up with bullies.”
That’s what she’s saying now. That’s similar to what she said back in 2016:
“Donald Trump is everything we teach our kids not to do in kindergarten. We have seen behavior over and over again that is just unacceptable.“
But in recent years, she has said lots of other things:
“I was absolutely thrilled to see him win (in ’16).”
And…
“We have a great working relationship.”
And…
“In every instance that I dealt with him, he was truthful, he listened, and he was great to work with.”
And…
“He would never knowingly lie.”
And…
“I had a great working relationship with I consider him a friend.”
And…
“His actions are solid, and that’s what I appreciate about him.”
And…
“I understand the president. I understand that genuinely, to his core, he believes he was wronged (in the ’20 election tally). This is not him making it up...This would be different if he was being deceptive.”
And…
Trump did not deserve to be impeached for the Jan. 6 insurrection: “I mean at some point, give the man a break. I mean, move on if you truly are about moving on.”
And…
“He has the ability to get strong people elected, and he has the ability to move the ball, and I hope that he continues to do that. We need him in the Republican Party. I don’t want us to go back to the days before Trump.”
Just what we need in the White House, a flip-flopping MAGA-straddler. Nikki Haley brings to mind a song by Eric Clapton and J. J. Cale. Sing it, boys!
Some like this and some like that
And some don’t know where it’s at…
Easy come, easy go
Any way the wind blows.
